Christopher

Denmark's very own pop superstar

Christopher

Denmark's very own pop superstar

p>We are delighted to announce that Christopher will open this year's Friday Rock programme! A clear Tivoli favourite, he has appeared on the Open Air Stage many times, and we can't wait to welcome him back.

His velvety vocals will gently envelop this spring evening in a collection of his biggest hits. Singles like Limousine, Tulips, CPH Girls, Told You So and Crazy have ensured Christopher a spot in the annals of Danish pop stardom – while his attractive appearance and friendly nature have made him a huge idol for the younger generation of pop fans.

His catchy R&B and charming falsetto provide the perfect soundtrack for a festive evening in Tivoli. We can't imagine a better start to the new season!

Sivas + Node

Two strong personalities

Sivas + Node

Two strong personalities

To kickstart this year's second Friday Rock event, we have two Danish rappers speaking from the heart in a language all their own.

Single D.A.U.D.A. put Sivas front and centre of a new wave of rappers, who adopted the style of the Southern States but incorporated their own characteristic slang, which has attracted a lot of attention. Sivas has won awards for both lyrics and music, and has toured Scandinavia and throughout Denmark both as a headliner and together with Ukendt Kunstner.

On this occasion he shares the stage with Node, who has quickly established himself as someone to watch, with singles like Pakker Bar and De Snakker and most recently Indifférent featuring none other than Sivas. Node sings and raps about the tough environment he grew up in, and about how music provided an escape for him, a space where he could be himself, performing both gentle soul and hard-hitting rap.

Marvelous Mosell + MC Einar + Rockers by Choice

Old school hip hop

Marvelous Mosell + MC Einar + Rockers by Choice

Old school hip hop

Carpark North

Potent electro-rock

Carpark North

Potent electro-rock

An arena tour and concerts for thousands of fans. That's what Carpark North will look back on as they move into the summer of 2018. With their feel for a good tune and their eternally enthralling and spectacular stage shows, Denmark's leading electro-rockers have built up a devoted fanbase.

For their latest album, Hope, the band has tried their hand at writing lyrics in Danish for the first time. Whether singing in Danish or English, the big emotions are always on show for songs about loss and rejections. Those same emotions also underpin Carpark North's powerful on-stage presence. Their concerts are high-octane blasts of energy reaching right to the back of the arena. Their setlist includes a long list of solid hits, so expect equal parts air guitar and singalongs to titles like Human, Shall We Be Grateful, 32 and their signature track, Transparent and Glasslike.

Carpark North are Lau Højen (vocals and guitar), Søren Balsner (bass and synthesiser) and Morten Thorhauge (drums). The last time they appeared on Tivoli's Open Air Stage was in 2014.

Gilli + Djämes Braun

Rock-solid double concert

Gilli + Djämes Braun

Rock-solid double concert

Gilli has had a fantastic 2017. He hit the big time with two singles, Habibi Aiwa and Rica, the first of which was named 'Song of the year' by Soundvenue. He also took home three awards at the Danish Music Awards: for Danish release of the year, Danish soloist of the year and Danish songwriter of the year. Gilli is flying, and when he lands in Tivoli the party will already be underway.

Djämes Braun will open proceedings with their dance-friendly pop and reggae sound. Since Kenno's exit, Lasse Pilfinger has taken to the front alone, and we are keen to hear new tunes from this busy producer and his energetic band. Meanwhile, practise the lyrics so you can sing along properly to Fugle, Kvinder og Kanoner, Duft af Ba-cone and Kom og Giv Mig Alle Dine Penge.

Michael Falch & dét band + Hush

Timeless music

Michael Falch & dét band + Hush

Timeless music

Michael Falch has never been in better form. He had one of his busiest ever years in 2017, releasing both an album Pludselig Alting Samtidig and a memoir Til Grænsen, appearing on Toppen af Poppen, and touring and gigging solo, with Poul Krebs and with Dét Band, which he is also bringing to Tivoli. Dét Band have been Falch's musical sparring partners for twelve years, and feature guitarist Lars Skjerbæk, keyboard virtuoso Mikkel Damgaard, bass player Troels Skjerbæk and drummer Peter Dombernowsky. They are one of the best rock bands in the country, and with tracks like Mød mig i mørket, I et land uden høje bjerge, Superlove, Ud af mørket and Den eneste i Verden, we can promise you a fantastic evening.

The evening kicks off with another fantastic live band. Having toured the entire country throughout the spring with their latest album, Sand, they've had a good warm-up! They have released four studio albums since 2004, with Sand coming after a break during which the duo worked on their own projects. With over 100,000 albums sold, Hush is one of Denmark's biggest Americana and alt-country success stories.

Peter Sommer + Gangway

High-carat quality pop

Peter Sommer + Gangway

High-carat quality pop

Peter Sommer announced his upcoming album in 2017 with the singles Skønne Spildte Kræfter and Bittersød Natskygge, and they promised something good was on its way. And 2017 was indeed a good year for Peter Sommer & Tiggerne. They played three sold-out album concerts featuring their landmark 2008 album, Til Rotterne, til kragerne, til hundene, and in spring 2018 they are touring most of Denmark before hitting Tivoli to play us into summer on the final Friday of spring.

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Gangway had great success with their light, melancholy and strongly melodic pop inspired by British bands such as The Smiths and Pet Shop Boys. They released eight albums between 1984 and 1998 and had various hits like My Girl and Me, Mountain Song, The Party Is Over, Sitting in a Park, Didn't I Make You Laugh, Going Away and Come Back as a Dog. Their reunion concert in autumn 2017 featured just one new track, but they are reportedly back in the studio at the moment.

Kesi + Hugo Helmig

Two stars sharing the stage

Kesi + Hugo Helmig

Two stars sharing the stage

Kesi was hugely productive in 2017. With several tracks charging into the top ten, one number one, more than 20 million Spotify plays, massive radio airplay and appearances on The Voice, P3 Guld and DMA, he well and truly made his mark on the Danish music scene. He kickstarted 2018 with the single Ligesom Mig, and on the first official day of summer, he will share some of his many hits on the Open Air Stage.

Hugo Helmig really has only one hit, Please Don't Lie. On the other hand, most people can probably sing along to this soulful pop track, which is approaching 10 million plays on Spotify. Inspiration from major singer-songwriters such as John Mayer and Ed Sheeran is not to be underestimated. Hugo Helmig has put together a band of young, talented musicians, and with a sold-out debut concert, his self-confidence is unlikely to be shaken.

Rock'n'roll nostalgia

The Hollywood Vampires

Rock'n'roll nostalgia

Supergroup The Hollywood Vampires features world famous front men Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry. These three celebrities are aiming to be the world's best cover band, celebrating the greatest rock icons of all time at their concerts. While they have also recorded their own songs, their setlists have been dominated by powerful interpretations of classics like My Generation, Whole Lotta Love, Break On Through (to the other side) and Ace of Spades. Whatever they plan to play in Tivoli, we can promise you an evening of rock in all its glory – complete with clichés and attitude. Don't miss Alice Cooper as the natural master of ceremonies, Johnny Depp as the sexy centre point and Joe Perry's supreme guitar-playing.

Marie Key

Understated pop

Marie Key

Understated pop

With a new record and a successful spring tour, Marie Key is ready to tackle the summer – and luckily for us, Tivoli as well. We can't wait!

The new album marks a new chapter in Marie Key's musical story. After five intense years, she needed a break, with new experiences and challenges. So she went off to New York with a pocketful of songs, and headed straight for producer Rasmus Bille Bähncke. This sent her music in a more electronic direction, although still with that signature Marie Key sound and those simultaneously humorous and serious lyrics.

Stine Bramsen + Patrick Dorgan

Pop and soul on the open air stage

Stine Bramsen + Patrick Dorgan

Pop and soul on the open air stage

The former lead singer of pop group Alphabeat, Stine Bramsen, has created a brilliant solo career. Her sound now is more modern and serious, and her pop songs offer plenty of food for thought. She sings with verve and intensity about matters relating to huge emotion and life's serious questions. She is particularly radiant when performing live with her excellent orchestra, so prepare for a party on the Open Air Stage.

Instead of Barbara Moleko the great soulsinger Patrick Dorgan will be opening this evening. With his smash hits On The Way Down and Marylin he has gotten himself a lot of fans! Patrick Dorgan is authentic soul and he really knows how to get the show started. It gives you something to look forward to.

Magtens Korridorer

True rock

Magtens Korridorer

True rock

Magtens Korridorer began 2018 by releasing a single, Slipper Snoren, featuring Katinka on vocals together with Johan Olsen. Shortly after this came a new album, Halvt til Helt, and now they are ready to give their new songs a proper airing. Not to mention the old ones, of course. Magtens Korridorer are well known for their riveting concerts, and after getting their big break with Friværdi in 2005, they became one of Denmark's most popular live bands. The members of Magtens Korridorer also have plenty on their mind. Their lyrics often reflect social realism, and their music has a slightly melancholy tone despite its passionate delivery.

Citybois + Skinz + Faustix

Pop party on the Open Air Stage

Citybois + Skinz + Faustix

Pop party on the Open Air Stage

It may have surprised many people to find that Citybois were more than a flash in the pan. But for two self-assured city boys, there's only been one way, and that is FORWARD. Their mission to 'boiscise' the whole of Denmark succeeded with last summer's ubiquitous Pool. Now they've assembled a brilliant team for a blast of a concert in Tivoli.

To kickstart the party, Skinz will drop by to perform warm pop gems with lyrics about girls and parties. Having already released various tracks featuring artists like Medina and Wafande, he had a true blue hit with the catchy Jeg Har En Pige, which went gold.

The audience will be truly spoilt on this summer evening, with three big names on the bill. Faustix had a huge hit with Come Closer featuring David Jay, and last year he repeated his success alongside Alvaro with Watching You, which is approaching 30 million plays on Spotify at the time of writing. Expect Faustix to blast the dust off the Open Air Stage!

With titles such as Midt om Natten, Jutlandia, Rabalderstræde, Kvinde Min and This Is My Life he has conquered the charts and written himself into Danish music history. He may be 72 now, but he continues to tour the country and release new music, most recently Øst for Vesterled, which came out in 2017. It's two years since Kim Larsen last appeared in Tivoli in the pouring rain, and we still had to shut the gates as the audience crowded into the venue. There's nobody like him, and we are thrilled to have one of Denmark's strongest live names back on our programme this year.

L.O.C.

The godfather of Danish hip hop

L.O.C. is the greatest ever Danish hip hop artist and one of the few who can boast both high album sales and excellent reviews. His explosive live show has an unfailing sense of style, and as an entertainer and icon he has always been at the forefront of Danish hip hop. Nobody in the genre has sold as many albums and concert tickets as L.O.C., and he is the country's most played artist on P3 over the past decade. His latest album Anno XV, subtitled 10 albums, 15 years, 30 hits, cemented his position as one of the few artists with the perfect balance between commercial success and artistic relevance.

a-ha

Brilliant, nostalgic pop

a-ha

Brilliant, nostalgic pop

1984's worldwide hit Take On Me ensured that a-ha will always have a spot at the top of the 80s playlists. The iconic video won many awards, and is still held up today as an MTV masterpiece. The band has toured all over the world, topping the charts in the USA and the UK, not to mention various other parts of the world – a-ha was the first Norwegian band to reach number 1 on the US Billboard Chart.

a-ha alternate between surefire synth-pop hits and grandiose ballads, carried by front man Morten Harket's distinctive vocals and backed by guitarist Pål Waaktaar-Savoy, with Magne Furuholmen on keyboard. They have an impressive range of hits – if you were born before 1980, you'll definitely remember tracks like Hunting High and Low, The Sun Always Shines on TV, Crying in the Rain, The Living Daylights, Stay on these Roads, Cry Wolf, Manhattan Skyline, Forever not Yours and I've Been Losing You. During their Electric Summer 2018 tour, they will be playing their biggest hits, as well as new material.

Our Friday Rock visitors can look forward to a special treat on this occasion. Burhan G's stage design and performance are always magnificent but he is also able to create an intimacy with his devoted audience. Expect a little extra excitement this evening, because he's promised to bring some friends along: a few of the artists who have helped him in his career.

Burhan G has perhaps Denmark's best voice for sweet, soulful pop music; he reigns supreme performing both emotionally charged ballads and more up-tempo pop hits – to the delight of his enthusiastic female fans. Everyone's feet will be tapping along to his huge back catalogue, and there'll be plenty of opportunities to sing along to Kalder Mig Hjem, Jeg Vil Have Dig For Mig Selv, Mest Ondt, Tættere På Himlen, Karma or Lucy.

Lis Sørensen + Karl William

Timeless, stylish vocalists

Lis Sørensen + Karl William

Timeless, stylish vocalists

After four decades in Danish showbiz, Lis Sørensen is still at the height of her career as a vocalist. Her CDs are selling well, music venues are sold out and Tivoli is looking forward to welcoming back Lis Sørensen and her timeless songs which, time and again, manage to capture audiences across the generations. She can boast of having added songs such as Tæt på Ækvator, Verden er i farver and Mine øjne de skal se to the Danish songbook, and has sung in bands like Shit & Chanel, the Anne Linnet Band, Cowgirls and Sebastian Band.

Before Lis Sørensen we will enjoy a visit from Karl William, whose latest single, Om Igen, will have everyone dancing. His honest, poetic approach has roots in r'n'b, while his vocals float gently above the funkier beats and vaguely melancholy tunes that combine in his music. This recipe has brought him critical acclaim, the P3 award, which he won in 2016, and a loyal fanbase which has only grown since his involvement in the popular TV2 show, Toppen Af Poppen.

Enchanting soul

Scarlet Pleasure's sound is an atmospheric blend of sensual soul, funk and R&B mixed with strong melodies. And it's this blend that has made them a clear favourite with audiences. The last time they played Tivoli, the Gardens were overwhelmed by the number of people who turned up, and their fanbase has only grown since then.

They burst into the limelight in 2014, when their single Windy became a huge radio hit. This was followed up by an album, various singles, and their current EPs, Limbo and Lagune, which have taken them around Europe, to the USA and won them awards from the Danish Music Awards for Hit of the Year and Band of the Year. Rasmus Seebach is clearly the biggest star in Denmark!
His pop songs with Danish lyrics have won him top slots in the charts, awards and countless fans. His live shows are creative and spectacular, and he is famous for treating his fans to extremely warm concerts full of stage presence.
Rasmus has been on Tivoli's wish list for years, and we are sure many of our regular visitors feel the same way. To mark his recent album release, Før Vi Mødte Dig, last autumn he visited the Orangery and gave a mini-concert. What a tempting appetiser for the delightful concert he has in store for us.

Accompanying him will be a strong team comprising guitarist Rune Kjeldsen, bassist Knut Henriksen, Gert Smedegaard on drums and Gustav Ljunggren on the piano etc. After playing together for their spring concerts, they are now all warmed up and ready to take the main stages by storm performing a selection of CV Jørgensen's vast catalogue of verdant evergreens.

Søren Huss + Carl Emil Petersen

Characteristic singers

Boxer shorts featuring the Danish flag! That's all Søren Huss is wearing on the cover of his latest album, Midtlivsvisen, released in 2017. In this song, he tells us about existence from his point of view in the midst of a very ordinary life. Both lyrics and vocals are hard-hitting enough that the album was selected as the best Danish-language album by Politiken critics, and won the Steppeulven critics' award for album of the year. It's unlikely that Søren Huss will appear in his Danish flag boxers on-stage, but this will certainly be an intimate concert experience – expect him to perform with verve and integrity in the final Friday Rock event of the year on the Open Air Stage.
